Rockstaff are seeking a practical engineer with experience of the design and construction of engineered containment landfills for our client in Merseyside. It will be primarily UK based but will involve some limited travel overseas to provide support to their clients.
This will be a varied role with the primary focus on the development, construction, operation, closure and remediation of landfill sites. Other work will include support to the mining and construction sectors. The successful candidate will have expertise or a working knowledge of some of the following disciplines relevant to landfill development;
- Earthworks engineering
- Environmental Impact Assessment
- Geosynthetics design
- Permit applications
- Preparation of technical specifications
- Leachate & landfill gas management
- Contract management
- Site Investigations
- Landfill remediation.
- Hydrogeological assessment
- Landfill operations
- Surface water management
- CAD / GIS
The role will be a combination of project management and technical input in your own areas of expertise. You will have support from the wider team who are highly skilled and experienced in the disciplines above.
Our client is currently working on major projects in the Middle East, Africa and India so experience of working in one of these regions or arid / tropical climates will be a distinct advantage.
Good written and personal communication skills are essential together with experience of construction contracts (ICE / NEC), planning and environmental regulatory regimes where appropriate and current health & safety legislation.
Applicants should have between 5 and 15 years experience of landfill engineering and be degree qualified as a civil engineer, geotechnical engineer or other related subject. Membership or chartership with a relevant professional body would be an advantage.
