Job Description

Rockstaff are seeking to appoint a Project Manager with experience of all aspects of developing landfill sites and other waste management facilities. This will be a varied role,
which will include business development to secure international contracts and then management of the projects won. It is anticipated the position will be based primarily in the head office in the UK with some limited travel overseas to provide support to our clients. We can also consider candidates who wish to work out of offices in Ireland, Bahrain or Dubai.

The current workload is focussed on the development, construction, operation, closure and remediation of major landfills and integrated waste management facilities. The employer is also keen to widen their offering to the management of wastes in the mining, petrochemical and nuclear sectors. The successful candidate will have expertise or a working knowledge of some of the following disciplines;

  • Landfill Development / Operations
  • International tendering
  • Project Management
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Waste Management
  • Earthworks engineering
  • Preparation of contract technical specifications
  • Leachate & landfill gas management
  • Hazardous waste management and treatment
  • Surface mining and management of Mining Wastes
  • Geotechnics / Site Investigation
  • Hydrogeology / Geology
  • Geosynthetic’s design
  • Landfill closure/remediation.
  • Surface water management
  • CAD / GIS

The role will be a combination of project management, business development and technical input depending on your own areas of expertise. You will have support from the wider team who are highly skilled and experienced in the disciplines above.

Our client is currently working on major projects in the Middle East, Central Asia and India so experience of working in one of these regions or arid / tropical climates will be a distinct advantage.

Good written and personal communication skills are essential together with experience of construction contracts (eg FIDIC) and supporting tender submissions. A good understanding of the EC and/or USEPA regulatory regimes applicable to landfill sites is required.

Applicants should have between 5 and 15 years relevant experience and be degree qualified in a relevant subject. Membership or chartership with a relevant professional body would be an advantage.
