Job Description

Rockstaff are seeking to appoint a practical engineer with experience of the design and construction of engineered containment landfills or similar large scale earthworks or surface mining projects. The role will be primarily UK based but will involve some limited travel overseas to provide support to the clients of the employer.

This will be a varied role with the primary focus on the development, construction, operation, closure and remediation of landfill sites. Other work will include support to the mining and construction sectors. The successful candidate will have expertise in some of the following disciplines relevant to landfill development:

  • Earthworks Engineering
  • Design of Geosynthetics
  • Preparation of Technical Specifications
  • Preparation of Contract Documentation
  • Tender and Contract Management.

Along with a working knowledge of some of the following:

  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Leachate & landfill gas management
  • Environmental Permitting
  • Landfill Closure
  • CAD / GIS
  • Landfill Monitoring
  • Surface water management
  • Landfill remediation.
  • Site Investigations
  • Landfill operations
  • Geotechnics
  • Hydrogeological assessment

The role will be a combination of project management and technical input in your own areas of expertise. You will have support from the wider team who are highly skilled
and experienced in the disciplines above.

Our client is currently working on major projects in the Middle East, Central Asia and India so experience of working in these regions or similar climates would be an advantage.

Good written and personal communication skills are essential together with experience of current construction contracts, planning and environmental regulatory regimes where
appropriate and current health & safety legislation.

Applicants should have between 5 and 15 years suitable experience and be degree qualified in a related subject. Membership or chartered status with a relevant professional body
would be an advantage.
